Smith maintains international exchange partnerships with over 100 respected business schools in over 35 countries and welcomes more than 300 international exchange students annually.
To earn this certificate/credential, exchange students can participate in a one-term (four month) or full-year (8 month) academic exchange. During this time, Smith Commerce exchange students must be enrolled in at least 3 courses (9.0 Queen's units) each term. Each course consists of 36 contact hours and has a weight of 3.0 academic units, this is equivalent to 6-7.5 ECTS. The majority of their courses must be taken in the Commerce faculty. Areas of interest can include International Business, Social Impact, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, and Consulting.
Students are introduced to the Canadian culture through classroom and non-academic experiences. Many classes include group-based project work, team challenges, living business cases, and simulations. Students will foster personal capacity in leadership, teamwork, cultural intelligence, resilience, communication, and presentation. Through Smith’s International Exchange Programs, students increase their global awareness and take their learning both in and outside of the classroom onto their future educational and career achievements.
