Advanced Topics in Management Analytics: People Analytics

People Analytics is part of Smith's 'Advanced Topics in Management Analytics' series and is delivered over 4 full-day sessions for 28 contact hours. This course highlights the need for evidence-based and data-driven decision-making in human capital management and teaches the associated methodologies and practices. More specifically, students discuss measurement, data collection and management, the strengths and limitations of various analytical techniques within the context of human capital management, and the use of such techniques to facilitate sustainable individual, group, and organizational performance. Students work with data that includes information on sentiments (employee engagement, well-being, and more), organizational data (hierarchical level, business unit, and more), demographic data (age, gender), and actions (e.g., lateral and vertical career moves). Learning outcomes include the ability to apply various analytical techniques within the context of human capital management and the development of practical interventions that follow from results and theoretical sense-making aligned with organizational strategy.
